WritingFever Daily Writing Prompt #3– Cure Your Writer’s Block for Romance Fiction
WritingFever Daily Prompt #3 – A Love That Burns
Some love stories are written in the stars. Others are forged in fire.
Character A wakes up in Hell. But they aren’t suffering—no chains, no torment, no eternal flames licking at their heels. Instead, they’re given a simple message: “Welcome home. Your job begins now.”
They are not here to be punished. They are the punishment.
Somewhere in the depths of damnation, Character B has been serving their sentence—endless, grueling, and deserved… or so they’ve been told. But Hell has a cruel sense of humor, and nothing is more torturous than a ghost from the past. Because Character A isn’t just anyone. They’re the one person Character B loved most in life. The one they failed. The one they betrayed. The one they sent here.
Now, Character A is tasked with delivering their punishment. Maybe it’s psychological—haunting them with old memories, twisting their deepest regrets. Maybe it’s physical—an executioner’s role they never wanted. Or maybe, just maybe, Character A is here for a different reason entirely. Because Hell doesn’t make mistakes… but love is the greatest torment of all.
Will Character A break the cycle? Will Character B finally atone? Or will they both burn together?
How to use this prompt:
- Set the tone—horror, tragedy, dark romance, or even a twisted comedy.
- Explore the power dynamic—does Character A remember their past immediately, or do they slowly piece together the truth?
- Decide what Character B did—are they a villain, or just a broken soul with a terrible mistake in their past?
- Give them a choice—will they escape, seek redemption, or fall deeper into the flames?
Would you make this a doomed romance or a tale of redemption?
