Interesting and Cool Weapons to give your character

Top 10 Coolest Weapons to Give Your Character (That Aren’t Just a Sword or Dagger!)

Swords and daggers are classic, but let’s be honest—they’re kind of overdone. If you want your character to stand out in battle (and look undeniably cool while doing it), you need to branch out.

Here are ten weapons that will make your characters unforgettable—ranked by Hotness Value out of 10.

1. Scythe – The Grim Reaper’s Aesthetic Choice

Scythes are dramatic, impractical, and absolutely sick-looking. The sheer vibe of wielding a massive, curved blade screams power, mystery, and just a little bit of villain energy.

Hotness Value: 9.5/10 – Points docked because logistics. But, hey, rule of cool!

2. Whip – Elegant but Deadly

A whip can be used to disarm, entangle, or straight-up crack bones. Add a magical or sci-fi twist (fire whip? Energy whip? Shadow tendrils?) and suddenly your character is terrifying. The finesse required to wield a whip makes it seem elegant, but let’s be real—it’s also one of the most brutal weapons on this list.

Hotness Value: 8/10 – Dangerous, stylish, and a little chaotic.

3. War Fan – Deadly Grace

At first glance, it’s just a delicate fan—until your character slices through steel with a flick of the wrist. War fans are stealthy, elegant, and perfect for assassins or rogue warriors. Bonus points if they use it to shield themselves from attacks like some kind of deadly aristocrat.

Hotness Value: 10/10 – Sophisticated murder? Yes, please.

4. Meteor Hammer – A Weapon and a Workout

Essentially a weighted ball on a chain, the meteor hammer is for characters who thrive on speed, precision, and raw power. It’s chaotic in motion but devastating when it lands a hit. Also, the sheer skill required to use one well? That’s some serious main-character energy.

Hotness Value: 9/10 – Extra points for the flair, but good luck not hitting yourself.

5. Kusarigama – Because One Weapon Isn’t Enough

A sickle attached to a chain—why choose between ranged and melee when you can have both? The kusarigama allows for acrobatics, complex attacks, and, most importantly, style. It’s the weapon of choice for assassins and ninja-types who want to be unpredictable.

Hotness Value: 9/10 – It’s giving “silent but deadly” energy.

6. Tonfa – The Underrated MVPs

Tonfas are simple yet brutally effective. Whether used for self-defense or all-out offense, they allow for quick, fluid strikes that look incredible in motion. Add an elemental or high-tech upgrade, and you’ve got a versatile weapon that doesn’t rely on flashy blades.

Hotness Value: 7.5/10 – Sleek, practical, and low-key dangerous.

7. Chakram – For Those Who Like to Make an Entrance

A spinning, razor-edged throwing ring? Yes, please. The chakram is stylish, deadly, and makes for some insane action sequences. Bonus: It can be used in melee or thrown like a boomerang, making it both effective and cinematic.

Hotness Value: 9.5/10 – Extra points for sheer cool factor.

8. Gunblade – Why Choose When You Can Have Both?

Is it a gun? Is it a sword? It’s both! The gunblade is peak “rule of cool,” giving characters versatility and a built-in excuse for over-the-top action sequences. Perfect for a futuristic or steampunk setting.

Hotness Value: 10/10 – It’s impractical, but when has that ever stopped anyone?

9. Bow and Trick Arrows – Precision with Personality

A bow is already a solid weapon, but give it some trick arrows (explosive, grappling, smoke, you name it), and now you’ve got a character who’s stylish and smart. It’s the perfect mix of precision, creativity, and drama.

Hotness Value: 8.5/10 – A little tactical, a lot of flair.

10. Glaive – Because Sometimes You Just Want a Bigger Weapon

A polearm with a long, sweeping blade, the glaive is basically the final boss version of a sword. It’s got reach, power, and presence. If your character swings one of these around, you know they’re not to be messed with.

Hotness Value: 9/10 – Graceful and intimidating? That’s a lethal combo.

Why settle for a basic blade when you could give your character something that sets them apart? However, common daggers, swords, and guns can be cool too— the hotness factor just depends on how your character uses it. But we’ll get into that next issue ;)

What’s your favorite unconventional weapon?
